The Foundry Home, and extension of the Cavern City Child Advocacy Center, is a Basic Center Program in Carlsbad, NM - and primarily serves the youth of Eddy and Lea counties, but youth from other counties are considered on an individual basis.

The Foundry Home is a low-barrier youth crisis shelter that provides beds for up to eight youth, ages 12-17 for twenty-one days.

The Foundry Home offers services and support 24 hours a day/7 days a week year-round.
Youth may arrive freely at the location for eligibility screening.

The Foundry Home provides individualized and collaborative case management services in order to effectively assess, plan, coordinate with other agencies and individuals on a youth's team, monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes to better meet each youth's needs.

The Foundry Home conducts a Casey Life Skills Assessment on each youth. This is a free tool that assesses behaviors and competencies that youth need to achieve long term goals. Examples of these competencies include: maintaining healthy relationships, work and study habits, planning and goal-setting, using community resources, daily living activities, budgeting and paying bills, computer literacy, and permanent connections to caring adults.

Once this assessment is completed, it is used to help the youth identify goals that they can work toward and achieve with the help of their case manager and clinician as well as the support of all Foundry Home staff.

Foundry Home partners with Rise Up Counseling to offer individualized and family counseling.

Features of the shelter:

- Located directly across from an outdoor park and elementary         school playground

- Each youth have their own private room with separate male and     female hallways

- Youth are responsible for their own laundry, dishes and room           clean-up

- Shared living room area and communal kitchen. All meals are           provided

- Individual computer lab workstations

- Transportation is provided to youth for appointments and work
